ONCOR Grant
As a participant in Oncor’s Commercial Standard Offer Energy Efficiency Program, Wylie ISD recently received a $9,341.81 incentive payment to support the replacement of the air-conditioning chiller at Birmingham Elementary. The incentive funds provided by Oncor were administered to help offset the cost of the energy efficiency project completed at Birmingham Elementary.
“We could not have done this without the support we received from Oncor. During a very difficult and stressful time, they assisted us in insuring we were installing the best equipment possible, while saving funds now and in the future. They have been a tremendous help with this project,” said Jennifer DuPlessis, Executive Director of Operations at Wylie ISD. “We’re excited about the improvement it will provide to the campus, as well as the opportunity to improve our infrastructure and increase the energy efficiency of our facilities.”
The upgrades came as result of Wylie ISD’s participation in the Oncor Commercial Standard Offer Program, which offers monetary incentives to Oncor metered commercial customers who implement qualifying energy-saving projects within the Oncor service area. The territory includes regions surrounding Midland/Odessa, Dallas/Fort Worth, Waco and Tyler.
The resulting projects are mutually beneficial for the schools and companies they serve through energy cost savings, and in turn they reduce demand on the state’s electric grid. Qualifying upgrades can include high-efficiency air conditioning improvements, heat pump and geothermal systems, lighting upgrades, roofing updates, food service equipment, refrigeration equipment and more.
“For more than 15 years, we have been excited to offer energy efficiency programs to support the implementation of energy-efficient upgrades to commercial properties,” said Michael Stockard, director, Energy Efficiency at Oncor. “It’s been truly rewarding to watch these cost savings be redistributed back to the communities Oncor serves while supporting efficiency measures for those same communities’ future generations.”
