Wylie ISD Names Gragert as New Birmingham Assistant Principal

Wylie ISD is pleased to announce that Joannie Gragert has been appointed as the new assistant principal at Birmingham Elementary. Gragert takes over for Heather Buckley, who was recently named principal at Groves Elementary. 

Gragert is currently a math interventionist and GT teacher at Birmingham Elementary, a position she has held since 2021. Before teaching the Bears, Gragert was a second-grade teacher for five years at Smith Elementary. She began her career in public education nearly 20 years ago at Boggess Elementary in Plano ISD, teaching second and third grade. 

Gragert is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She also holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas Arlington. 

Gragert and her family reside in the area. She and her husband have three children who attend Wylie ISD schools.
