Alexander Named Director of Student Services, Lannan Named WHS AP
The Wylie ISD has promoted two outstanding educators. Brian Alexander has been named the district’s director of student services and Amanda Lannan will be an assistant principal at Wylie High School. Both positions will be effective later this month.
In this newly created position, Alexander will report to the assistant superintendent of human resources and student services, and will be responsible for administering student and parent concerns at all grade levels. He will also work with campus assistant principals on student code of conduct and discipline issues.
“I am truly humbled by this opportunity,” said Alexander. “Wylie High School has been my home for the past eight years. It is bittersweet to be stepping away from the pirate ship, but I look forward to serving Wylie ISD in this new capacity, working directly with so many more of our fantastic students, parents and educators.”
Mr. Alexander began his teaching career in Dallas ISD in 2009 before moving to Wylie High School in 2010 where he taught chemistry. In 2014 he was named the school’s Teacher of the Year. The following year he was promoted to assistant principal at WHS where he is currently serving. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Texas-Arlington.
Mrs. Lannan will fill Mr. Alexander’s position at WHS. She began her teaching career in 2007 at Wylie East High School where she taught world geography and economics. In 2014 she moved to administration, serving as the high school social studies learning specialist. She earned her bachelor’s from Texas State and her master’s from Texas A&M-Commerce.
