Wylie ISD Names Two New Assistant Principals

Wylie ISD is proud to announce two new assistant principals. Joseph Welborn has been named the new assistant principal at Harrison Intermediate School replacing Vanessa Hudgens who will be the new AP at Hartman Elementary.

Prior to joining Wylie ISD, Mr. Welborn spent the first 13 years of his educational career at Webb Middle School in GISD before moving to Wylie ISD and Burnett Junior High last year. At Webb he served as a reading intervention specialist, AVID site team member and campus improvement team (CIT) leader. For the past four years he has also served as a Principal Intern. In addition to his principal’s certification, Mr. Welborn holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a master’s from Lamar University.

Mrs. Hudgins began her teaching career in 1994 at Spring Town Middle School in Spring Town, TX and moved to Wylie ISD in 2000. She served as a sixth grade teacher at Davis Intermediate and a fourth grade teacher at Smith Elementary before moving to the Educational Service Center in 2014 where she has served as the district’s elementary social studies learning specialist. She has been at Harrison since 2015. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University and a master’s degree from Texas A&M – Commerce.
