Wylie ISD Names Three Elementary Assistant Principals
The Wylie ISD is pleased to announce the following new assistant principal (AP) appointments for the 2018-2019 school year:
- Dodd Elementary: Alyshia Zimmerman – currently the instructional specialist at Arapaho Classical Magnet Elementary in Richardson ISD
- Tibbals Elementary: Arley Barton – currently the math instructional coach at Lyles Middle School in Garland ISD
- Akin Elementary: Micah Tomlin – currently an assistant principal at JJ Pearce High School in Richardson ISD
Alyshia Zimmerman began her teaching career in Richardson ISD in 2001. While in RISD, she served as an elementary school teacher, Title 1 specialist, instructional specialist and campus reading specialist at Arapaho Classical Magnet School. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and a master’s from Lamar University as well as her principal’s certification.
Arley Barton has been in Garland ISD since 2007. She has served as a math and science teacher at the elementary level and as a math instructional coach at the middle school level. Barton holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and a master’s from Texas A&M – Commerce as well as her principal’s certification.
Micah Tomlin began her teaching career in Ohio in 2010, serving at-risk students. She moved to Texas in 2015, serving in Birdville ISD for one year. She has been an instructional coach and AP in Richardson ISD. She earned her bachelor’s at The University of Akron (Ohio), her master’s at The Ohio State University and is pursuing her doctorate degree. She also holds a principal’s certification.
