Wylie ISD Names Franks New Executive Director of Finance
Wylie ISD announced May 5 the appointment of Steve Franks as the district’s new Executive Director of Finance. Franks will take over for Lynn Lyon, who will retire at the end of the fiscal year.
“Wylie ISD is committed to business excellence and financial integrity, and I look forward to being part of the team,” Franks said. “I have been motivated by a career of working for school districts, as I believe that every dollar that can be saved can go right back into the classroom.”
Franks joins the Wylie family from Birdville ISD, where he served as Director of Business, a position he held for a year. Prior to his service in Birdville, Franks served as the Director of Business Operations for Irving ISD for four years. His 17-year public school service also includes roles as Director of Accounting for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Director of Finance for Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, and Senior Internal Auditor for Cedar Hill ISD.
During his career in the private sector, Franks held auditing roles for companies such as Hudson Advisers, LLC., ABC Supply Co., and Cinemark Holdings, Inc.
A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Franks received three degrees from the university: a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and a Master of Liberal Arts. Franks is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He is also a TASBO (Texas Association of School Business Officials) Registered Texas School Business Administrator.
Franks and his wife, Nikki, have one daughter, Audrey.
