2020-21 School Year

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wylie ISD will offer two options of instructional delivery models for our students: Traditional On Campus Learning or at-home Remote Learning. The Remote Learning option is being provided for our families who have health and safety concerns with sending their children back to school.

    On-Campus Learning
On Campus Learning occurs when students engage in face-to-face learning at their campus during regular school hours.
    Remote Learning
Remote Learning allows students to engage in learning activities through Google Classroom from their home or other location that is not their campus.
    • Synchronous Learning (3rd – 12th) Two-way, real time instruction delivered with required, scheduled participation
    • Asynchronous Learning (PK – 2nd) Flexible time schedule with intermittent teacher interaction paired with offline activities

Unfortunately, for those choosing Remote Learning, not all courses will effectively translate to a virtual learning environment. This includes specialized courses offered to secondary (7th – 12th grade) students (examples: an advanced science lab, welding, or a certified nursing assistant course). Please contact your campus counselor for more information.

Regardless of which learning option you choose for your child, the expectations for coursework and the grading system will be the same for both in-person and at-home learning. Wylie ISD believes this is the most fair and equitable solution for all of our students. Applicable courses in 9th-12th grade will be included in calculating GPA and class rank for both in-person and at-home learning students.

    Intention and Commitment Survey

    Intention Survey

Beginning Wednesday, July 15, parents will receive an email from Wylie ISD requesting a non-binding intention survey for their child(ren) to choose either On Campus or Remote Learning for the entire fall semester.  Again, this is non-binding but will help Wylie ISD finalize our staffing requirements and finalize our Remote Learning design.

    Commitment Form

On Thursday, July 30th, parents will be sent a survey for their child(ren) to choose either On Campus or Remote Learning for the entire fall semester.  This survey is a binding commitment for the entire grading period. Surveys must be completed no later than 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6. Your child’s schedule and teacher assignments cannot be finalized until we receive your commitment, so please consider completing the form as soon as possible. Students will be expected to remain in their chosen option through at least a 9-week grading period in order to limit scheduling and staffing complexities. We understand that circumstances could change for our families throughout the semester, and adjustments will be examined on a case-by-case basis.
