Superintendent

Dr. Kim Spicer - Superintendent of Schools

Kim Spicer

Dr. Kim Spicer serves as Superintendent of Wylie ISD, bringing more than 30 years of experience in public education and a deep commitment to fostering excellence both in and out of the classroom. Named superintendent by the Wylie ISD Board of Trustees on October 21, 2025, she became the district’s first female superintendent in its nearly 125-year history.

Dr. Spicer has been an integral part of Wylie ISD’s leadership team since 2015. She first served as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, where she led academic programs, professional learning, and principal supervision. In 2018, she was promoted to Deputy Superintendent, expanding her responsibilities to include curriculum and instruction, athletics, fine arts, career and technical education, and technology.

Under her leadership in curriculum and instruction, Wylie ISD has maintained an A-rating from the Texas Education Agency and earned recognition in 2022 from Solution Tree as a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work® District—a three-year distinction that highlights the district’s strong culture of collaboration, innovation, and focus on student success.

Dr. Spicer began her public education career as a science teacher at Irion County High School in Mertzon, Texas, where she taught for five years before joining Frenship ISD in Wolfforth. She spent six years teaching science at Frenship High School before moving into administration, serving as assistant principal, associate principal, and later principal of Frenship High School, a position she held for 10 years before joining Wylie ISD.

Throughout her career, Dr. Spicer has been known for her collaborative leadership style, dedication to academic excellence, and belief that strong relationships are the foundation for student success.

Dr. Spicer holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, a Master of Education from Angelo State University, and a Bachelor of Science from Angelo State University. She earned her superintendent certification from Lubbock Christian University.

She and her husband, Sid, reside in Sachse within Wylie ISD. They are the proud parents of three children and proud grandparents of two.
