David Vinson, Ph.D. - Superintendent of Schools
Superintendent David Vinson joined the leadership team of the Wylie Independent School District in July 2011, bringing with him more than 20 years of experience in public education. Prior to coming to Wylie ISD, he spent six years as Superintendent of Floresville ISD in the San Antonio area. Dr. Vinson's extensive leadership experience also includes time in Frenship ISD, near Lubbock. He served as Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education and as principal of Frenship Middle School. Additionally, Dr. Vinson led as principal of Ralls High School in Ralls ISD as well as Director of Technology and Federal Programs. He began his career in Texas public education in 1992 as a Gifted & Talented teacher/coordinator in Idalou ISD.
Dr. Vinson holds three degrees from Texas Tech University: a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction. He and his wife, Cristy, have two children, Cal and Kate.
