Rezoning 2025-26

Families impacted by rezoning have received direct communication from the district. You can also use our interactive zoning map to check your assigned school.

Rezoning decisions are based on district-wide needs, but we recognize some students may want to stay at their current campus. Families can submit a transfer request, but approval is based on available space and district policies.

Students eligible for bus transportation under district policy will continue to receive services. New bus routes reflecting the updated attendance zones will be shared before the 2025-26 school year.

Yes! We understand that transitioning to a new school can be a big adjustment, and we want students and families to feel welcomed and supported. Due to the large number of students being rezoned, Akin Elementary and Kreymer Elementary will host special welcome events to help students and families get to know their new school communities. These events will provide opportunities to meet the principal and teachers, connect with other families, and learn more about what to expect in the upcoming school year. Event details are still being finalized, and we will share more information as soon as possible. Stay tuned for updates from your new campus!

Students must be four years old by September 1 and meet one of the following criteria:

• does not speak or understand English (limited English proficiency)
• is considered economically disadvantaged based on family income
• is homeless
• is a dependent of a member of the military on active duty, injured, or killed while on active duty
• is currently or has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care)
• is a dependent of an individual who received the Star of Texas Award

Students enrolled in specialized programs will remain at their currently assigned campuses.

New Dual Language students will attend Dodd Elementary starting in Fall 2025.

Incoming intermediate school Dual Language students will begin attending Davis Intermediate in Fall 2026.

When the new intermediate and junior high schools open in Fall 2026, we will establish true feeder patterns, meaning students will stay with their peers through intermediate, junior high and high school.

• Draper & Davis Intermediates  → Cooper & McMillan Junior Highs → Wylie High School
• Harrison & the new intermediate  → Burnett & the new junior high → Wylie East High School
   

This adjustment aligns with our goal of establishing true feeder patterns for students moving from elementary to junior high and high school.

While Birmingham and Bush have similar proximity to Wylie High School and Wylie East High School, after reviewing all options, the decision was based on student population size. Birmingham’s student population can fit within the Wylie High School feeder pattern, whereas Bush Elementary’s size would have exceeded Wylie High School’s campus capacity. The rezoning plan ensures all campuses operate efficiently and remain aligned with the district’s long-term growth strategy.
