School Violence Prevention

The Wylie Independent School District believes that students with strong social-emotional health will have a greater likelihood to be successful in school and life. With this premise, Wylie ISD has combined the best parts of character education, social-emotional learning and positive psychology to foster social-emotional health with our students and community.

This concept is called “The Wylie Way” and is founded in core ethical values our community values the most:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Caring
  • Giving
  • Grit
  • Preparation
  • Gratitude
  • Celebration

These concepts are taught comprehensively, proactively, and intentionally through research-based practices that encourage positive relationships between students, faculty, and staff as well as the broader community. We believe that this approach is our best chance at school violence prevention and the best way to protect students.
