Volunteer

School volunteers play a vital role in a successful school and Wylie Independent School District encourages public involvement at all levels of the District. There are so many volunteer opportunities to fit everyone’s interest and schedule. From volunteering at events on a campus, to reading weekly to a Kindergarten class, we encourage you to get involved.

In the interest of safety and security, the Wylie ISD is authorized to obtain criminal history information on all volunteers. All volunteers at Wylie ISD campuses must complete a criminal history background check each year, online, at the Wylie ISD website.

  • All volunteers should allow up to 3 weeks for processing.
  • To verify that you have been added to the volunteer list following your approved background check, please contact your child’s campus.

Step 1: Online application - Click here to begin the process

Step 2: Upon receipt of your email verifying your approved background check, contact your campus to discuss volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our schools! We look forward to seeing you.

Mentor

The Wylie ISD MENTOR vision is to improve the lives of our students by fostering social connection with others.

Mentoring, at its core, guarantees a student that there’s someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges and makes them feel like they matter... they belong. Mentoring can help youth as they go through challenging life transitions, including dealing with stressful changes at home, difficulty at school (academically and behaviorally), and problems with navigating social situations. Close, healthy, supportive relationships between mentors and mentees are central to success (Jekielek et al., 2002; Rhodes & DuBois, 2006). For this reason, we ask mentors to commit to participating in the program for at least one academic year, meeting once weekly for a minimum of 30 minutes.
