Dormady Tabbed to Lead Wylie East Raiders
Wylie ISD has selected veteran coach Mike Dormady as the new head football coach/campus athletic coordinator at Wylie East High School. Coach Dormady will help lead the Raiders to success in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. Wylie East competes in UIL Class 5A, Division 1.
“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to join the Raiders at a time when their program is still growing. They have a great foundation and supportive leadership at both the campus and district level,” said Dormady. “We will continue to build the program and develop well-rounded student athletes, who will succeed not just on the field but in every aspect of their lives.”
Dormady leaves Boerne High School where he led the 4A Greyhounds for six seasons, including five post-season runs. Over the last four years they compiled a 29-14 record. In addition to his head coaching duties, Coach Dormady hired and developed the coaching staffs at both the high school and middle school. He created a player leadership council and launched a fundraising campaign to help provide needed equipment.
Coach Dormady began his teaching career in 1997, in Missouri, after serving as an assistant at the college level. His first head coaching job came in 2002; and, in 2003, he earned “Conference Coach of the Year” honors. In 2006, he moved to Colleyville Heritage High School where he eventually served as offensive coordinator. After a brief stint at a private school, he joined the Coppell High School staff where he coached their high-powered offense for three seasons before being named the Boerne High School head coach in 2012.
Throughout his tenure, he has served as a director and speaker at coaching clinics and football camps across the country. Dormady holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing education and a master’s degree in educational leadership. He and his wife, Lisa, have four children.
