The mission of Business Professionals of America is: To contribute to the preparation of global professionals through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.

The vision of Business Professionals of America is: To be an innovator in Career and Technical Education, providing our members with opportunities for growth through education, competition, community service, and personal development.
Goals
The Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) has been adopted as the strategic direction for a certification program, competitive events, leadership, and direction for interaction with business, career/job preparation, and workplace competencies.
Purposes
- To provide opportunities for chapter members in leadership and development.
- To unite in a common professional bond without regard to race, creed, sex or national origin of students enrolled in classes with business employment as their objective.
- To develop leadership abilities through participation in career and technical education, civic, recreational, and social activities. To assist students in establishing realistic employment objectives.
- To create enthusiasm for learning.
- To promote high standards in ethics, workmanship, and scholarship.
- To develop the ability of students to plan together, organize, and carry out worthy activities and projects through the use of the democratic processes.
- To foster an understanding of the functions of labor, entrepreneurial, and management organizations in the American free enterprise system.
- To develop competent, assertive leaders in business education.
- To develop and strengthen members’ confidence in themselves and their work.
- To provide satisfactory social and recreational activities.
- To foster practical application of business education skills through competition.

With over 90 categories to choose from, there’s sure to be a competitive event to your interests.
The goal of the Workplace Skills Assessment Program is to provide all students with the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills learned through business education curricula. Students prepare for and compete in contests under six Assessment Areas including: Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communication & Design, Management, Marketing & Communication, and Health Administration.

Fall Leadership Conferences--TBD
Regions will host Fall Leadership Conferences across Texas in October and November offering leadership training for students. Dates and registration information will be shared as they become available. -
Regional Leadership Conferences--Held the last three weekends in January.
Held the last three weekends in January. Each of the 17 regions will determine their own dates, locations and deadlines. Contact your Regional Advisor or the State Advisor for more information. These dates and deadlines will be shared as they are finalized. -

Competitive Events Guidelines
You can download the Workplace Skills Assessment Program guide (WSAP) that contains the competitive events guidelines and topics for this year by logging in to the BPA Member Gateway(members.bpa.org) The new guidelines will be published September 1. Be sure to read the guidelines for your events as each year the rules may change. Take the time to review the rubrics to be sure that you have everything you need for your event.
To login to this website, you'll need your member ID and your password that your advisor has set for you.
You can also download the Torch Awards Handbook and the BPA Cares Handbook for guidelines for earning points and awards in these programs.
