Ms. Katie McLeroy

Hello Tiger Family!

It is a joy to serve the students, parents, and staff at Tibbals Elementary as your school counselor! This year starts my 17th year in education and my 6th year as a School Counselor. I have had the pleasure of working at Tibbals Elementary as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher, K-4 ESL teacher and counselor. I am excited to be part of the Wylie ISD family!

I am a proud dog mom to three precious boys Jeffrey (shihtzu mix), Kevin (schnoodle) and Alan (golden doodle).

I am passionate about helping children grow emotionally and socially as they progress through school and beyond. I continually partner with teachers and parents to help meet the needs of students.  This may look like small groups with student, meeting with students individually, or classroom lessons.  I will visit classrooms throughout the school year to teach lessons that focus on mindfulness (breathing techniques), empathy, kindness, respect, grit, and friendship skills. The Kids Count Players Program, through the Children's Advocay Center of Collin County is a resourse we utilitize for K-2 students to bring awareness to personal boundaries and to educate our students about child abuse prevention.  Each month, I share a different social story by Julia Cook for grades K-4.  This year, I am exctied to incorporate lessons from the Mind Up curriculums.

I am also the 504 coordinator and MENTOR program liason for our campus.  I am here to answer questions or discuss your concerns regarding your child’s development or well-being at school, so please contact me anytime should the need arise. Let’s make this school year the BEST!
