My name is Heather Wilks! This is my second school year at Wylie High School and I am very happy to be teaching AP and Pre-AP Chemistry. I earned my Master of Science degree in Chemistry from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. My graduate research focused on the physical chemistry of biological enzymes. During graduate school I worked as a quality control chemist at a radiopharmaceutical company that made isotopes used for nuclear medical imaging. After working as a chemist, I taught chemistry at the community college level in upstate New York, Oregon, and Texas.
When I am not teaching chemistry I am making memories with my twin girls and husband, who is also a chemist. I am excited for a new year of AP chemistry to share the knowledge and love I have for this incredible content. Please, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.
