We will Rise Up!
  • Welcome to OUR 5th Grade Science Class!

Though we have had many changes over the last few years, there are some things that will NEVER change.  A few of those things are my love for teaching and leading my students to discover new things about our world.  This year, we will begin learning about safe practices for our Science Lab, and the names of various science tools and how to use them.  This foundation opens up a whole world of scientific exploration as we discuss rainbows, light, 5 types of energy, and the differences and similarities of our Sun, Earth, and Moon.  Fifth Grade Science is packed full of exciting new discoveries sure to leave you on the edge of your seat to know more!  You may not be a science nerd like me, but I "BELIEVE" you might just find a part of our world you can get excited about learning.  So I hope you accept the challenge of an exciting new school year.  I know I am ready to explore with you.

Mrs. Katrina Dickey

I grew up in rural Missouri and am the youngest of five children.  I spent my summers swimming, drinking out of the garden hose, and reading.  My winters consisted of building snow forts, hot chocolate snow days, and sledding down large hills with my friends.  I went on to graduate from Missouri Baptist University and received my Bachelor of Science in Education.  Shortly after graduation, I moved to Texas and began teaching. I married a great guy, named Judd, who happens to be an Aggie, and went on to build our sweet family with 7 children!  After 13 years of staying at home to raise our kiddos, I jumped back into teaching 5th Grade Science.  I have really enjoyed teaching in Wylie, and watching 6 of my 7 children learn and grow alongside me in the Wylie School System.  My free time is kept pretty busy, but I enjoy reading, baking, loving on our 2 sweet little Mini Schnauzers, and spending time with our family.
