Wylie ISD produces handbook and code of conduct documents to be used by both high schools.
You can find the current versions using the following links:
Wylie East also produces an addendum with specifics about our campus. You can find it in the document viewer below. There is also a download link at the bottom of the viewer if you would like to save the handbook addendum for later reference.
A special notice is requred on each school website in addition to the standard handbook notice, outlining the conditions under which a person may be denied entry to our school.
According to Sec. 37.105. A school administrator, school resource officer, or school district peace officer of a school district may refuse to allow a person to enter on or may eject a person from WEHS if the person refuses to leave peaceably on request and poses a substantial risk of harm to any person. Or a person may reject a person if he or she behaves in a manner that is inappropriate for a school setting, is issued a verbal warning that the behavior is inappropriate and may result in the person's refusal of entry or ejection, and the person persists in that behavior. In addition, identification may be required of any person on the property.
At the time a person is refused entry to or ejected from WEHS property, the district shall provide to the person written information explaining the appeal process established, which is that the person refused or ejected write a formal appeal letter to the principal of WEHS explaining why the decision to refuse entry or eject the person did not meet the requirements outlined above. If the issue is not resolved with the principal he/she will provide information on how to continue the appeals process, which may eventually lead to the board of trustees.
Additional points: The school will accommodate any ARD or 504 meetings to allow participation of any parent refused entry. Refusal of entry cannot exceed 2 years.
