Mrs. Robin Best
I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Crime and Justice Studies. While working towards my undergraduate degree, I worked as a licensed insurance claims adjuster for the state of Texas. After 13 years as an adjuster, I made the bold decision to pursue a new career in my field of passion...teaching! After researching multiple certification options, I chose to obtain my teaching certification through Texas Teachers. I became a fully certified teacher for Core Subjects Grades 4-8 in 2016. After completing my student teaching right here at McMillan Junior High, I was blessed to be hired as a full-time teacher with Wylie I.S.D. This school year will mark my fifth year with McMillan Junior High and I could not be more pleased! I am currently working towards my master's degree through Amberton University and plan on graduating this May (depending on current circumstances!). I firmly believe, and stress to my students, that we NEVER stop learning! McMillan Junior High is my home, and I was honored to be chosen as the 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year for my campus. I look forward to seeing my students each and every day and truly hope they discover a passion for learning and sense of belonging while in my classroom.
We finished the 2019-2020 school year strong with excellent success for our students in spite of COVID-19! I will be teaching all classes through remote learning this year. Although classes will look different, and I would much rather be face to face with my students, I know that we will all still "Rise UP" to the challenge! I take the Wylie Way to heart and will always strive to help my students excel, not only academically, but in life as well. My purpose is to ensure that every child realizes their potential by instilling confidence through a safe, energetic and inclusive classroom environment, even online. We are McMillan, and we are in this together! This is going to be an amazing year, and I am honored to be your teacher.
