Triennial Wellness Plan Update for the 2025-2026 School Year
The Wylie ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), school and campus administrators, school staff, and student participate in the review and evaluation of the District’s Local Wellness Policy and Wellness Plan every three years as required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). The purpose of the triennial assessment is to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the district’s wellness initiatives, measure progress toward meeting established goals, and determine whether updates to the policy or plan are needed.
The district completed its most recent triennial assessment in November 2025. As part of the assessment process, Wylie ISD reviewed implementation of the Wellness Plan using multiple data, including the School Health Index (SHI), Campus Improvement Plans (CIPs), student survey data, and input from district stakeholders, including SHAC members, district employees, campus administrators, and students.
Any recommended revisions to the Local Wellness Policy or Wellness Plan are first reviewed by the Wylie ISD SHAC before being presented to the Wylie ISD Board of Trustees for final approval. The Wellness Policy and Wellness Plan are district-owned documents. Wylie ISD Student Nutrition coordinates the required triennial assessment and ensures the food and nutrition-related components remain current and compliant with the applicable federal and state child nutrition program requirements.
Based on the findings of the November 2025 triennial assessment, the district determined that the current Wellness Policy and Wellness Plan continue to support the health and wellness goals of Wylie ISD. No revisions were recommended. The Wylie ISD SHAC reviewed the assessment results and voted to approve the Wellness Policy and Wellness Plan without changes during the November 2025 SHAC meeting.

Smart Snack Guidelines for Campus Admin
Starting in school year 2014-15, all foods sold at school during the school day need to meet these new national nutrition standards. The Smart Snacks in School regulation applies to foods sold a la carte, in the school store, cafeteria, and vending machines. This is nationwide for all public schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program.
