Special Education
Wylie ISD educates students in the least restrictive environment. Planning and decisions for students are based on the Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE), along with current information regarding present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP). Data-driven decision-making allows the Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to plan individual services needed as documented in the committee-developed Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Wylie ISD offers a continuum of instructional and related services based on student data and needs once determined to be eligible. The ARD committee always considers services in the general education classroom to the greatest extent possible. Student schedules of services vary as determined by specific needs. Special education services are provided at every campus. However, some specialized settings are only available at a specific district-designated site.
The mission of Wylie ISD is to sustain a culture of high expectations while valuing unity, relationships and trust. In the Special Education Department, our goal is to achieve this on EVERY CAMPUS, EVERY CLASSROOM, EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY, and EVERY WAY.
