High School: 9th - 12th Grades

High school band provides the students with their introduction to the marching program. The high school marching bands rehearse outside the school day during the first semester and perform at all football games, invitational marching competitions, and UIL marching contest. During the second semester, the bands present several concerts, participate in TMEA auditions, compete in solo/ensemble events, and perform at UIL concert and sight-reading competition. Additionally, each high school band member is given the opportunity to participate in an overnight trip every-other-year.

Junior High: 7th & 8th Grades

At the Junior High level, students are placed in ability-based groups and perform several concerts each year. In addition, the students enter solo/ensemble and TMEA Region band events and compete in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) concert and sight-reading events.

Intermediate: 5th & 6th Grades

The Wylie ISD band program begins at the intermediate school level in the sixth grade where students are enrolled in homogeneous groupings of instruments. These classes focus on the development of correct musical and performance skills. The classes combine on two or more occasions during the year to perform.

Wylie ISD 2024 JH Summer Band Camp

Wylie ISD 2024 JH Summer Band Camp

Band students in summer band camp instruction

This camp is for any Wylie ISD or Lovejoy ISD student that completed 1-3 years of band instruction and have just completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade.

Transportation is not provided. Students need a ride to and from camp each day.

The camp will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Some instruments may fill up quickly and additional students will be placed on a waiting list.

Registration must be completed online via the link below. Registration is due by May 22. There is a small transaction fee for each registration (less than $5). Refunds are not available after the May 22 deadline.

The camp will conclude on Friday, June 7 with a concert at 12:30 p.m. in the Wylie East Auditorium.

Costs

$80 if registered prior to April 10
$90 if registered after April 10

$25 for the optional field trip to Strike & Reel
Field trip is on June 5. Students will depart on buses after camp and return at 5 p.m. Trip includes unlimited bowling, laser tag, bumper cars, ropes course, arcade games and a chicken strip & french fry buffet for lunch.
