Wylie ISD Promotes Harrelson to Dodd Principal
Crystal Harrelson, Principal Dodd Elementary

Wylie ISD is excited to announce that Crystal Harrelson has been promoted to principal of Dodd Elementary for the 2025-26 school year. She will succeed current principal Magan Porter, who is relocating to be closer to family.

Harrelson joined Wylie ISD in 2022 as an assistant principal at Whitt Elementary and currently serves in the same role at Watkins Elementary. Harrelson is known for her dependable leadership and ability to build strong relationships. At both campuses, she played a key role in shaping a positive school environment and supporting student success.

Harrelson began her career in public education in 2009 as a special education paraprofessional at Davis Elementary in Royse City ISD. She became a classroom teacher in 2011 and went on to complete her principal internship and practicum at Miss May Vernon Elementary, where she was honored as Campus Teacher of the Year in 2020. In 2021, she served as RCISD’s middle school summer school principal. In addition to her campus-level contributions at RCISD, she also served on the district’s Superintendent’s Committee and mentored aspiring educators through Texas A&M–Commerce.

A two-time graduate of Texas A&M University–Commerce, Harrelson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in Administration.
