Wylie ISD Powerlifters Finish Strong at State

Congratulations to Wylie High and Wylie East Powerlifters! Both high schools brought home 2026 State Champions!

AHMO Iron and DUBEAST Powerlifting had tremendous success at the 6A Texas High School Women's Powerlifting State meet over spring break.

Wylie High powerlifters are the THSWPA 6A Equipped State Champions. Exceeding their pre-meet expectations, the team scored 45 points at the State Meet, surpassing the runner-up by over 20 points.

“I'm extremely proud of every girl who competed, along with the managers and squat squad boys who provided wrapping and spotting support,” Katie Hathaway, AHMO Iron Powerlifting Head Coach, said. “This win was a total team effort, with everyone working seamlessly together. This outstanding team showcases exceptional talent, focus, and resilience to achieve their goals. They started preparing for this victory as soon as last year's competition ended. As back-to-back State Champions, they've set a standard for future athletes to continue this winning tradition.”

The Wylie High AHMO Iron head coach is Hathaway. Assistant powerlifting coaches are Reid Craft, Jana Harlow, and Kristin Rea.

Congratulations to Wylie East senior Alex Davis for winning first place in her weight class, making her a State Champion.

Wylie East junior Madisyn King placed fifth in her weight class.

DUBEAST Powerlifting finished eighth overall.

“I’m very proud of all these girls and the work they have put in this year,” John Mitchell, Wylie East Head Powerlifting Coach, said.

The Wylie East Powerlifting Head Coach is Mitchell. Assistant powerlifting coaches are Marion Wright, Jacob Merriman, and Kimberli Smith.
