Wylie ISD Once Again Recognized as Model Professional Learning Community at Work District
Solution Tree 2025 Model PLC at Work District

Wylie ISD has once again been recognized by Solution Tree as a Model Professional Learning Community at Work® District, a prestigious national honor awarded to districts that demonstrate a long-term commitment to collaborative learning and improved student outcomes.

This marks the second time Wylie ISD has earned this designation, which required the district to show continued academic growth over an additional three-year period following its initial recognition. The district was first recognized by Solution Tree in 2022. Wylie ISD is now one of only six school districts in Texas, and one of just 24 school districts nationwide with enrollments over 5,000 students, to receive this honor.

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are rooted in the belief that ongoing, job-embedded learning for educators is the most powerful way to improve learning for all students. The PLC at Work® process is driven by three core commitments:

  1. Focus on learning
  2. Build a collaborative culture
  3. Create a results orientation

“This recognition is a direct reflection of the incredible people who serve in Wylie ISD, our teachers, staff, and leaders who never stop learning and never stop putting students first,” said Superintendent Dr. Kim Spicer. “We believe in growing our people so they can grow our students. This honor confirms that the culture we’ve built around collaboration, learning, and results is making a real impact in our classrooms.”

Schools are recognized based on strict criteria, including demonstration of a commitment to PLC concepts, implementation of these concepts for at least three years, and clear evidence of improved student learning over that period. Once measurable results can be seen, the school must explain its practices, structures, and culture and submit its application for consideration by the PLC Review Committee.

According to the Champions of PLC at Work®, educators in the schools and districts selected for this recognition have shown “a sustained commitment to helping all of their students achieve at high levels. They have been willing to alter the structure and culture of the organization to reflect their commitment. We applaud them and congratulate them for achieving this very significant milestone on the never-ending PLC journey.”
