Wylie ISD Names Foster As New Cooper Junior High Principal

Wylie ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Kelly Foster as the next principal of Cooper Junior High. Foster will assume leadership following the promotion of current principal Mary Zucha to Executive Director of Student Services.

Foster currently serves as an assistant principal at Wylie East High School, a position he has held since 2023. Prior to joining Wylie ISD, he served as assistant principal at Otto Middle School and Mendenhall Elementary School in Plano ISD. Throughout his nearly 20-year career in education, Foster has served in a variety of roles, including athletic director, history and special education teacher, coach, and administrator.

Foster began his career as an ESL instructor in South Korea and has since gained experience serving students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Over the past six years, he has helped lead campuses through instructional improvement, teacher development, campus operations, and student support systems, while fostering strong relationships with students, staff, and families.

Known for his relationship-focused leadership style and high expectations for students, Foster is committed to building on Cooper's tradition of excellence and continuing the strong culture of academic achievement. 

Foster earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Howard Payne University and his Master of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University. He also holds certifications in Principal (EC-12), Generalist (4-8), Special Education (EC-12), Social Studies (8-12), Physical Education (EC-12), and English as a Second Language Supplemental.

Foster and his family reside in the area, and he has one child who attends Wylie ISD schools.
