Wylie ISD Names Davis Executive Director of Special Education

Wylie ISD is proud to announce Dr. Stephen Davis as the district’s new Executive Director of Special Education. He takes over for Morgan Power, who was recently named principal of Tibbals Elementary.
Dr. Davis joined Wylie ISD in 2017 as Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and has spent the past nine years helping lead the district’s work in curriculum, instruction, and academic excellence for students in grades 5-12. During his time in Wylie ISD, he has played an instrumental role in supporting campuses, developing leaders, and strengthening teaching and learning across the district.
As Executive Director of Special Education, Dr. Davis will lead the district’s special education department and support campuses in ensuring students receive high-quality instruction and individualized support and services that meet their needs. In this role, he will oversee compliance with state and federal requirements, support teachers and staff, and partner with families to promote student success across all campuses.
Dr. Davis brings experience in educational leadership and a strong background in curriculum and instruction. Prior to joining Wylie ISD, he served in campus leadership roles in Rockwall ISD at both the elementary and secondary levels after beginning his career in education as a math teacher and coach in Garland ISD in 2004.
Dr. Davis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Baylor University and both a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University–Commerce. He and his wife live in Wylie and have two children who attend Wylie ISD schools.
Wylie ISD is excited for Dr. Davis to step into this role and continue making an impact for students, staff, and families. The district will begin the search process for a new Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum.
