Wylie ISD Names Brunson Birmingham Principal

Wylie ISD is proud to announce that Erica Brunson has been promoted to principal of Birmingham Elementary. She will take over for Tracy Halligan, who is relocating out of state at the end of the school year.
Brunson has served as the assistant principal at Tibbals Elementary since the 2022-23 school year, where she is known as a thoughtful and highly effective leader. She brings a calm, steady presence to every role she takes on, always focused on building relationships and doing what’s best for students and staff.
Brunson began her career in Garland ISD in 2010, where she was recognized as Couch Elementary’s Most Inspiring Teacher and later as Campus Teacher of the Year. She joined Wylie ISD in 2014 as a resource and inclusion teacher at Smith Elementary, where she was again honored as Teacher of the Year in 2015. She later served as a fourth-grade reading and language arts teacher and curriculum leader at Smith and was an active member of Wylie ISD’s Reading and Language Arts Curriculum Leadership Team.
Brunson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas and earned her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University.
