Wylie ISD Earns National Recognition for Music Education for 13th Consecutive Year

Wylie ISD has once again been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, marking the district’s 13th consecutive year to receive this national honor. The recognition highlights the district’s support and ongoing commitment to providing students with high-quality music education experiences.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in areas such as funding, instructional time, participation, facilities, and community support. Applications are independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts, to ensure a rigorous and credible selection process.

In 2026, more than 1,000 school districts and schools across the country received this distinction, placing Wylie ISD among a select group of communities that prioritize access to music education for all students.

“In Wylie ISD, Fine Arts isn’t extracurricular—it’s part of the daily experience for more than 75% of our students across 58 programs,” said Craig Needham, Wylie ISD Executive Director of Fine Arts. “This recognition from the NAMM Foundation reflects a community and district-wide commitment to ensuring every student has access to meaningful Fine Arts opportunities.”

From elementary classrooms to award-winning secondary programs, Wylie ISD continues to invest in opportunities that allow students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect through the arts, reinforcing the district’s belief that a well-rounded education includes strong Fine Arts experiences.
