Wylie ISD Celebrates Record 10 National Merit Semifinalists
- News
Wylie ISD is proud to announce that a record 10 Wylie High School seniors have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program — the most National Merit Semifinalists in a single year in Wylie ISD history, according to district records.
Congratulations to:

Aarav Barnawal

Aru Jaiswal

Avi Jaiswal

Naila Jangda

Chloe Lee

Nathan Mathew

Sohum Mishra

Obaid Mohammed

Mohammed Sulaiman

Mohammad Syed
The students are among more than 16,000 Semifinalists nationwide who now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million.
Being named a National Merit Semifinalist places these students among the nation’s highest-performing high school seniors. Semifinalists must meet additional academic and program requirements to advance to the Finalist level. About 95 percent are expected to become Finalists, and approximately half of those Finalists will ultimately earn a National Merit Scholarship and the title of Merit Scholar.
Having 10 students reach this level in the same year marks an exciting milestone for Wylie ISD and Wylie High School and reflects years of hard work and academic achievement by these students.
Congratulations to Aarav, Chloe, Aru, Avi, Naila, Nathan, Sohum, Obaid, Mohammed, and Mohammad on this outstanding accomplishment. We are incredibly proud to have all 10 representing Wylie High School and Wylie ISD as they continue in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
