Wylie High School Names New Associate Principal and Assistant Principal

Wylie ISD is proud to announce that Katherine Morales has been promoted to Associate Principal of Wylie High School. Morales steps into the role after Tarah Clark was recently named principal of Burnett Junior High.

With Morales moving into the associate principal position, the district is also proud to announce that Harrison assistant principal Joel May will join Wylie High School as a new assistant principal.

Morales came to Wylie ISD as an assistant principal at Wylie High School in 2022. Prior to joining Wylie ISD, she served as an assistant principal in Plano ISD and also held roles as a teacher, ESL team leader, and campus administrator throughout her more than 20-year career in education. She also previously served as an ESL coordinator for a school district in Lansing, Illinois.

Morales received her Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University and earned her Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University. Morales resides in Wylie with her family.

May began serving Wylie ISD in 2023 as an assistant principal at Harrison Intermediate. Prior to joining Wylie ISD, he served as an assistant principal at Dover Elementary in Richardson ISD for two years. The nearly 20-year educator began his career as an assistant band director at South Grand Prairie High School before serving as associate director of bands at James E. Taylor High School and Allen High School. He transitioned into campus administration in Richardson ISD in 2019.

May earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Baylor University and his Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University. He also resides in Wylie with his family.
