Mary Zucha, Executive Director of Student Services.

Wylie ISD is proud to announce the promotion of Cooper Junior High Principal Mary Zucha to Executive Director of Student Services. Zucha will assume the role following Leslie Dodson's recent transition to Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Career and Technical Education.

A proud Wylie native, Zucha has dedicated the past 12 years to serving students and families at Cooper Junior High. She was named principal in May 2025 after serving three years as assistant principal. Prior to joining the administrative team, Zucha taught seventh-grade science at Cooper for eight years, where she also coached cheer and served as the student council sponsor. Her commitment to students and excellence in the classroom earned her the distinction of Campus Teacher of the Year and Wylie ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2019-20.

Zucha's journey at Cooper began as the campus attendance clerk, giving her the unique experience of serving students and families in nearly every capacity throughout her career. Throughout her time in Wylie ISD, she has been known for her exceptional communication skills, approachable leadership style, and commitment to putting students first.

In her new role, Zucha will support campuses in areas related to student services and student support systems, helping ensure schools have the structures and resources needed to support student success and well-being.

Zucha earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ouachita Baptist University and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University.

Zucha and her husband reside in the Wylie ISD community.
