Kreymer Elementary Welcomes Help from Wylie East Students, Chamber Ambassadors, and Birmingham Staff

With the first day of school quickly approaching, the Kreymer Elementary campus came to life this week as staff, students, and volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help the new school get ready to welcome its first-ever students.

Joining the effort was the Birmingham Elementary staff, who generously lent their time to help their fellow educators move in, unpack, and set up classrooms. The initiative, warmly nicknamed the “Boomerang Bears” by Birmingham Principal Erica Brunson, highlighted the culture of support and togetherness that defines Wylie ISD.

“It’s fun to see all the new tech and to see them excited for the school year,” Morgan Loven, Birmingham second-grade teacher, said. “They have great things coming!”

Helping hand-in-hand with the Birmingham Bears were members of the Wylie East High School drill team, the Sapphires, and the Wylie East National Honor Society. These spirited student groups showed up ready to work, assisting Kreymer teachers as they set up their classrooms in preparation for their beloved Kangaroos.

The Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors also joined in to support the big move-in. Their presence was a strong reminder that in Wylie, the community truly rallies around its schools.

Moving into a brand-new school is exciting, but also a lot of work. The support from fellow educators, students, and community members meant the world to Kreymer teachers as they prepared for the year ahead.

“We are so thankful for the help we have had today from all of the volunteers, district employees, and students moving in all of these boxes!” said Ashley Nickel, Kreymer’s librarian.

Assistant Principal Allison Bryant echoed that sentiment, noting how powerful it was to witness the Wylie ISD family in action.

“Their willingness to step in and lend a hand, especially during such a busy time for everyone, really spoke to the shared commitment we all have to student success,” Bryant said. “It reminded me that even though we’re starting fresh, we’re not starting alone.”
