H-E-B- Announces Wylie ISD as Excellence in Education Semi-Finalist
H E B announces Wylie I S D as an excellence in education semi-finalist.

Wylie ISD has earned statewide recognition for its commitment to students, families, and excellence in education, being named a semifinalist in the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

Out of more than 2,000 applications submitted from across Texas, Wylie ISD was selected as one of just 25 districts to advance as a semifinalist during the preliminary judging process for the 2026 awards. The distinction highlights the district’s continued focus on academic achievement, innovation, and community support.

“Obviously, our readers were very impressed by your written comments and your extensive professional accomplishments,” said Jill Reynolds of the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program.

While the district was not ultimately named a finalist in the Best Large District category, the recognition itself places Wylie ISD among the top-performing districts in the state. Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum Dr. Stephen Davis submitted the application after the district was nominated last semester, showcasing the work happening across campuses and the impact on students.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized among the top districts in Texas,” Dr. Davis said. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our staff, the support of our community, and the outstanding work happening in our classrooms every day.”

As part of the honor, H-E-B awarded the district two $500 gift cards.

“[This is] a small token of our gratitude for all that you do each and every day to inspire and enlighten young minds,” Reynolds said. “You are helping to shape the future of Texas, and we thank you for your passion and your dedication. You are an inspiration to us all.”

Joley Martin, Family Liaison for The Wylie Way, will ensure that the gift cards directly support families in need right here in the community.

By channeling the recognition back into the community it serves, Wylie ISD continues to embody the very values that earned it statewide recognition: dedication, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference beyond the classroom.
