Dodd Elementary Recognized as National Blue Ribbon School Honoree by Texas Education Agency
Congrats! Dodd Elementary national blue ribbon school

Dodd Elementary has been recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as a 2025 National Blue Ribbon School honoree, marking a significant milestone in the school’s continued commitment to excellence in education.

Although the U.S. Department of Education formally discontinued its role in administering the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program last month, the TEA chose to move forward in recognizing schools that met the federal criteria for either overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps. Dodd Elementary fulfilled all the requirements and is a National Blue Ribbon School based on recent years of student performance and campus achievement data.

“Dodd Elementary exemplifies what makes Wylie ISD such a special place for students to grow and learn,” said Wylie ISD Acting Superintendent Dr. Kim Spicer. “We are proud of the high standards our educators uphold and the strong relationships they build with families to support every child’s success. This recognition affirms what we already knew – Dodd is an incredible place for students to learn and grow.”

Schools recognized through the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program demonstrate instructional excellence, a strong academic foundation, and a commitment to serving the whole child. The designation celebrates more than just test scores; it honors schools where students are supported, challenged, and inspired.

While the federal government has shifted the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program to the states, the core purpose remains the same, which is to celebrate schools where excellence is not just achieved but sustained. The National Blue Ribbon distinction awarded by TEA affirms the outstanding work happening at Dodd Elementary and across Wylie ISD.

Staff members were surprised with the news on Friday, Sept. 19, and celebrated together in true Wylie ISD fashion, complete with confetti cannons. The moment recognized that this achievement reflects years of hard work, meaningful relationships, and a shared commitment to doing what is best for students.
