Special Education Teacher

Welcome Akin Families!

Just a bit about me! I live in Sachse, TX and have been married to the love of my life, Dennis, for 18 years. Together we have two wonderful children, Patrick and Caitlin, ages 15 and 13 respectively. After school hours, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my children in their sports activities, but I also really love to sing! I am currently a member of the Grand Chorus for Millennial Choirs and Orchestras as a soprano II. It has been an indescribable expereince over the last two semesters to sing with this talented group of people as we have performed four local concerts in Plano, two before Christmas and two during the month of May. Additionally, we traveled to Salt Lake City this summer and performed several concerts in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Such unforgettable and moving experiences!! I am looking forward to another incredible year of singing with this amazing group of musicians!

I am also excited to begin a new school year at Akin Elementary! This past spring marked my 20th year as an educator with 17 of those years as an Akin frog!! I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to my new position this year. I am a 1995 graduate from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. I have held an Endorsement in Special Education since 1997. I have general education experience in Kindergarten and 2nd/3rd grades, as well as over a decade of experience as a resource and inclusion teacher through special education in grades K-4.

I feel strongly that it is my job not only to motivate students, but also to encourage their personal growth in character, as well as in math skills. It is a job that I could never accomplish without the assistance of you, the parent(s). It is this team approach that will help make our students successful and confident people as they move through elementary school. If you have any questions or concerns about your child this school year, please feel free to contact me at 972-429-3400 ext. 6008 to set up an appointment.

Have a fabulous school year!!!
