Education & Certification:
I earned a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication and English from Stephen F. Austin State University. I hold Texas Educator Certification in the following areas: English (6-12), Speech Communication (6-12), Special Education (PK-12), Generalist (EC-6), Principal (PK-12).
Educator Experience:
I am in my 27th year as an educator. I have taught Middle School Language Arts, High School English and Communication Applications, been an assistant principal in Middle and Elementary School, an Elementary School Principal, taught Intermediate School Math, Science, and Language Arts.
My Philosophy of Education:
"No significant learning can take place without a significant relationship." As a teacher, I use academic content to reach to the heart of my students. I believe that the greatest impact I can make in the life of a student is to build a relationship that ensures that each student has confidence in him/herself in order to achieve great things.
My World Outside of School:
I am a blessed man. I have the honor of being married to my wonderful wife of 25 years, Stacey, who is the Junior High School Math Learning Specialist for Wylie ISD. We have four children: Molly is Chemistry teacher at Wylie East High School, and is married to our wonderful, Son-in-Love, Danny. Emily is a Junior at Texas A&M University at Commerce, planning to get a Ph.D. in Psychology. Andrew is a Music Education Major at Texas A&M University at Commerce. Our youngest is Matthew, a Junior at Wylie High School where he plays basketball and participates in the Construction Trades and Welding Program. Somewhere in the midst of all this, I still find time for my hobbies of taking care of animals (our family has 4 dogs, 2 snakes, 1 cat, and 29-gallon freshwater tropical fish tank), cooking (and obviously eating), watching television, Facebooking, Tik-Toking and Web Surfing.
And by the way, I love Bacon!
