English I and Reading I & II
In 2018 and 2019 I student-taught in Wylie and subbed for a full year after I graduated from Texas A&M University - Commerce. The following two years I went back and worked in Commerce, TX for an Outdoor Education program while earning my Masters. I started teaching 9th grade English here two years ago now and this year I'll be doing the same. My wife and I live in Josephine with our dog, Bonnie, and our ridiculously adorable son, Teddy (Theodore); my wife is teaching English at Wylie East as well.
I love running, cycling, swimming, and rock climbing, but I find myself running less and cycling more as my knees start to complain more with each passing birthday. I love reading good books, writing simple poetry, playing video games on my computer, and watching shows and movies with my wife; more recently I've been enjoying playing on the floor with my little boy. My favorite book is East of Eden by John Steinbeck and my favorite movie is a hard, three-way tie between A Knight's Tale, The Iron Giant, and Little Women (2019).
My goal this year, and every year, is to love your child like they're my own. I desire, more than anything else, to meet them where they are, at the top of the mountain or in the middle of the storm, and walk with them through it... out of it... whatever they need. It fills me up to get to meet so many wonderful young people each year. I'm very excited for 2023-24.
