My name is Scott Payne and I will be teaching AP Calculus AB and Advanced Precalculus this school year at Wylie High School.  This year will be my 3rd year at Wylie High School and my 10th year overall as a teacher. 

My wife and I have been married for 13 years and have two children.  Our son is attending college here in Texas and our daughter is a 6th grader at Wylie ISD. 

Prior to teaching, I was an aerospace engineer in the defense industry.  I have worked for Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and GE Aviation.  Most of my experience in engineering involved modeling & simulation of aerospace systems, flight performance, and gas turbine engine control.

My hope and desire is to inspire young people to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.  Mental, physical, and emotional growth comes about by being uncomfortable in a safe and encouraging environment.    I also want to bring real world context to mathematics and science to illuminate the world around our students.

Lastly, the message your child will receive from me is the following:  HARD WORK WINS!  YOU GET OUT OF LIFE WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT!
