Steps to become a substitute:

  • Communication from the HR Department will be sent via email so please keep your email address updated on your application.
    1. Complete the Substitute Application. (Incomplete applications will not be considered.)
      **High school diploma required to apply. List three references and attach any applicable transcripts to your application. 

    2. Fingerprinting Requirements: SB 9 requires submission of a  digital fingerprints for a criminal history review. Once your application is reviewed, you will be e-mailed fingerprinting instructions. *If you have already been fingerprinted for the Texas Education Agency and we can verify your results, we will e-mail you regarding a virtual orientation and online paperwork.

    3. Virtual Orientation: HR will e-mail you a mandatory virtual orientation after we review your fingerprints.  Once complete, you will receive a unique login ID to complete your online paperwork.

      Q: Can I save my incomplete application and return to complete it at a later time?
      A: Yes. You may logout of your application at any time and return later using your unique username and password.
      Q: How will my references be contacted?
      A: References listed in your application will be sent an auto-generated questionnaire email.  If your references did not receive the auto-generated email, they can send an emailed reference to
