Hi there! I was born and raised in Waco, TX (Hewitt to be exact), but I ventured out to the plains of west Texas to attend Texas Tech University. My original intent was to be an electrical engineer and computer scientist, but the appeal of the purer form of mathematics ignited my passion. I received both my master's and my bachelor's degree in Mathematics from TTU plus a minor in secondary education. While I was working on my master's degree, I began my teaching career at Coronado High School in Lubbock. I fully intended to keep teaching, but a unique opportunity presented itself, which took me down a 20-year detour through the corporate world. I spent 8 years at Raytheon as a software engineer, and then I spent 12 years as a product manager for amazing companies like Texas Instruments, Capital One, Real Page, and CBRE. However, the call of teaching never left my soul, and as Bilbo Baggins rightfully noted, many adventures in life are "There and back again" experiences. I am passionate about math and education, and I am excited to return to my roots and to join the amazing staff at WEHS. My wife, Jill, is also a part of the East family as the Education & Training teacher. My daughter, Ryah, graduated from WEHS in 2022 and is now at UT Austin, while my son, Jaxson, is a 2019 graduate who now attends Harvard University. In my free time, I enjoy running, playing soccer, reading, and anything related to Star Wars and Harry Potter.
