Mrs. Emily Tarter
Mrs. Tarter is a 5th & 6th grade Physical Education teacher at Harrison Intermediate. She also serves as an Assistant Tennis Coach for the Wylie East Tennis team and feeder program. Mrs. Tarter was born and raised in Rowlett, Texas. Her educational background includes graduating from Rowlett High School in 2001 and Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis on Sport Managment in 2006.
The 2020-2021 school year will be Mrs. Tarter's 14th year teaching and coaching, with 11 of those years being in Wylie. Her journey in education began in Dallas ISD at Hector P. Garcia as the Girls PE teacher and Head Volleyball and Softball coach. From there she was welcomed to Wylie ISD and spent the 5 years at McMillan Junior High as the Girls PE teacher and coached volleyball, basketball, track and cross country. After starting her own family, she took a break from coaching and moved to the classroom to teach 6th grade World Cultures at Draper Intermediate. After being out of PE and coaching for 5 years, she missed teaching her passion and took a position at Schrade Middle school in Garland ISD in her hometown. She served as the Girls Athletic Coordinator coaching volleyball, track and cross country while also teaching 6th grade World Cultures for two years. 2020 brought Mrs. Tarter back to Wylie ISD at Harrison to her new home.
Mrs. Tarter likes to spend her free time staying active with her husband James and two children, Hailie and Riley. She has a passion for health and fitness and loves to share that with her students.
