Independent Contractors

  • An independent contractor is a person contracted to perform or provide services to Wylie ISD. Independent contractors are to contract directly with Wylie ISD and not with a separate agency/company. Independent contractors are responsible for their own taxes, benefits, and are paid according to the terms of the contract and do not receive additional compensation for overtime hours worked.

    This is a 2-step process with step 1 a questionnaire that will help guide the process of determining whether a worker is a temporary employee or independent contractor. Keep in mind that no single answer is decisive in determining a worker’s status. Each answer is considered in the ultimate determination of whether the worker is in business for him or herself (independent contractor) or is economically dependent on the employer (temporary employee).

    Step 2:

    Independent Contractor Packet

    The Independent Contractor packet can be obtained only after Step 1 has been completed by the Wylie ISD requestor. The packet will be emailed to the Independent Contractor directly from the Wylie ISD requestor.
