Hi! I am so excited to be teaching in the SAIL Classroom this year. This will be my 18th year of teaching. Time flies when you’re having fun. I absolutely love my job and everyday brings me joy and happiness. This is my second school year teaching at Smith. The majority of my teaching career has been teaching First Grade. My true passion is teaching Reading and Writing, through Reading Recovery. Seeing the light turn on and the connection happen for a young reader still gives me chills to this day. I have previously taught in Highland Park, Allen and most recently, internationally in Costa Rica, where I taught English abroad at a private school for four sunshiny years.
I am thrilled to be the SAIL teacher this year, and I am grateful to teach alongside amazing teachers within our school. I am passionate about inclusion and my role here at Smith. Upon graduating from South Garland, I went to Kilgore College where I was a member of the Kilgore College Rangerettes. From there, I transferred to Oklahoma State University where I majored in Elementary Education.
I love the community of Wylie and I feel so blessed to teach in a district that values family and education. The school year has already started off great, and I can not wait for the days ahead.
