Andrew Haynie

Hello! My name is Mr. Andrew Haynie, and I am teaching 7th grade science this year at Cooper JHS. I live in Fate with my wife Melissa, who teaches 1st grade in Plano, our one-year-old son Andy, our dog Jenna, and our cat Lilli. I have several hobbies including reading, writing, travelling, video games, and tabletop RPGs.

While this is my fourth year teaching, this is both my first year teaching 7th grade science and my first year at CJHS. I could not be more excited to be here - I feel like I'm home now.

--- My Childhood ---

I grew up in Allen, Texas where I attended Story Elementary for kindergarten, Reed Elementary for first and second grades, and then transferred to the then-newly-built Anderson Elementary for third through sixth grades. From there I went to Curtis Middle School for seventh and eighth grades (yes, the same Curtis we play this year!) before graduating from Allen High School in 2007. In high school, I was the varsity heavyweight wrestler for four years and led the team as captain during my senior year. I was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America, and am proud to say that after starting as a Tiger Cub in first grade, I attained the rank of Eagle Scout during my senior year of high school.

--- My Education ---

I graduated in May of 2012 from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration. I earned my teaching certificate through Region 10’s Teacher Preparation Course. I plan on going back to school in the near future to earn a Master of Education degree in either STEM, GT, or Administration, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish.
