Michelle was born and raised in Ventura, California. Lived in Orem, Utah for the past 12 years. Michelle and her family recently moved to Wylie to be closer to family. Michelle and her husband, Jordan have three girls: Elizabeth "Elle" (4), Twins Scarlett and Hazel (1).
Michelle gained an associate’s degree in California at Ventura Community College and finished a Bachelor of Fine Art with an emphasis in painting and drawing at Utah Valley University in 2010. Michelle was awarded Student of the Year in the painting department for the 2010 school year. While teaching art for the last 9 years, Michelle earned a Master in Secondary Ed.
Ever since a small child the idea of out of the box thinking was very common to Michelle. Art, creativity and teaching has always been a passion of hers. In her own work Michelle paints from life experiences of finding place in new places away from family and memories. With the use of acrylics, oil pastels and fabrics Michelle tries to represent the images of my past and present.
Other such passions of Michelle’s are being creative in every facet of life, cake decorating and baking being of no exception! Michelle enjoys having fun with family and friends when I’m not at school having fun with my students.
Most importantly Michelle has a passion for spreading appreciation and respect for art and art culture. she knows that not every student has the skills required for a DaVinci, but everyone does have the ability to respect art. Michelle wants to make the creation of art fun and enjoyable so students can grow to haven’t he respect for the art world and to see how important it is for a well-rounded education.
” It's the vitality of growth and decay within each structure and the energies inherent in these processes that I try to embrace in my work…I paint layer upon layer with harsh movement, jagged edges, and bold colors; it’s like geological strata with cracks and discordance. But each layer however furvious, is always infected and colored by the underlying one.” – part of Michelle Beck’s Artist Statement
