What you need to know...
The online scholarship application for Seniors expecting to graduate Wylie ISD will be open February 1 through March 1. The application will be posted at this site February 1st by 8:00 am and can be logged into repeatedly as long as the user saves their work. Once user submits the application, the submission is final.
This single application makes every student who completes the online process eliglible for more than 140 scholarship opportunities managed through Wylie ISD and Wylie ISD Education Foundation.
Donors offer both performance-focused and financial need scholarships. Not all the scholarships are for high GPA or athletics. For instance, some are awarded because the student attended a certain elementary school.
Scholarship awards range from $500- $2,500 paid directly to the school of choice and can be used for tuition, fees, and books at any accredited institution of learning - this includes colleges, universities and trade/vocational schools.
ALL applicants need to answer these three essay questions:
- What are your future educational and/or career goals and what are your plans to achieve those goals? (350 word maximum)
- Are there any other qualities, experiences, or factors you would like the scholarship committee to consider? (Please include information on financial need.) (350 word maximum)
- Explain how your involvement in a specific class, activity, program, or event has impacted your life. What accomplishments have you achieved during the past four years in high school that will summarize your legacy? (350 word maximum)
If you are prompted to answer additional essay questions under “Additional Information” it’s because you’ve matched qualifications for a scholarship that requires an additional essay. We recommended you fill it out.
Letters of Recommendation take time to be completed. If you a requesting one please be courteous and give the recommender plenty of time to complete it before the deadline. The applying senior then has to activly submit the application after the recomendations so students should expect to manage this effort. Here's a tip: Once you complete the application section on extra curriculars, you will know if you need letters of recommendation. To expidite this process, you can submit these requests at this point.
In an effort to be fair to all applicants, every step of the application must be complete and submitted by the student prior to the March 1st 11:59 pm deadlines.
Awards are made in May at the respective highschool ceremony. All awardees have a follow up process required to release funds to their future institue. This effort is the responsibility of the graduating student. Failure to comply may result in loss of funds.
