Mrs. Jennifer Holcomb

Audio/Video Production and Graphic Design Teacher

Hello and welcome to my page. This is my 19th year in education and I am thrilled to be at Wylie East!  I began teaching in the Garland ISD where I worked for six years; I then worked in the Wylie ISD at Wylie High School for seven years. I then worked in the Lovejoy ISD for three years before coming back to the Wylie ISD.

My Bachelor's Degree is in Speech Communication from Baylor University (Sic 'em!), and my Master's Degree is in Applied Social Sciences/Communication Studies from Canterbury Christ Church University in Canterbury England. (When I was at Baylor, I received the "Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship" which paid for graduate school in England.)

My husband and I live in Wylie and my two children attend Wylie schools. In fact, my son is a senior at Wylie East. Go Raiders!

I was recruited into teaching by the former Superintendent of the Garland ISD, Mr. Curtis Culwell. He always told me that teaching was a great job and that I would love it. He was right. The best part about my day is equipping students with the knowedge and skills they need to be successful. Plus, students are so creative! When they learn how to effectively communicate using video, audio, design and/or photography, they make a difference. I always tell my classes that I'm lucky because I have the best students, and it's true!

When I'm not working, I'm usually at home with my family. I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants (I'm a foodie) and taking pictures. I started "walking" about two years ago and have been in seven half-marathons. So, whether you see me in the classroom, or walking around one of the fitness trails, I hope you'll say hello. It's going to be a great year.
