Degrees and Certifications:
Texas A&M Bachelor's degree Speech Communications with a minor in English Literature
Mrs. Katie Mork
I was born and raised in Garland/Rowlett, Texas. I graduated from Garland High School in 2002, and began college at Texas A&M University in College Station that same year. I have a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communications with a minor in English Literature. I graduated from A&M in 2006 and moved back home to the Dallas area. Before I began teaching I worked for Children's Cancer Fund and helped do outreach for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital in downtown.
My teaching career began in 2007 in Garland, where I taught 5th grade. In 2010 I moved to an IB charter school called Uplift Peak Preparatory near downtown Dallas, and started teaching 3rd grade. If you ever have any questions about the education reform movement, International Baccalaureate, or urban schools, let's chat!
On a more personal note, I married my husband Justin in 2009, and we have a son, Tanner, who is a 6th grader at Harrison this year, and a daughter, Britton, who is 3 years old. Some fun facts about us are, Justin and I went to preschool together at the same church we got married in, and still attend. We also are the proud owners of four Americauna chickens, that live in our backyard.
