I graduated college from University of Texas at Dallas and started teaching in 1994 At Stephen F. Austin Middle School in Irving, Texas. The year 2000 was a phenomenal year of blessing for me. I was chosen as Campus Teacher of the Year and Irving ISD Secondary District Teacher of the Year, and then at a surprise assembly was also awarded the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award for the state of Texas. After 17 years as an 8th grade U.S. History teacher and 15 years as Social Studies Department Chair, I jumped on the opportunity to open the largest Net Zero middle school campus in the United States with 1 to 1 iPad instruction. In 2015, I also received the distinction of Teacher of the Year at Lady Bird Johnson Middle School in Irving.
In 2017, I was so excited to become a part of the Wylie ISD and McMillan family, and I truly found a home. In 25 years of teaching, my goals are always to INSPIRE students to become great not just good, critical thinkers not simply followers, and involved citizens not only bystanders. I love building lasting relationships with students and parents so that we can continue the McMillan tradition of excellence and grow educated, stable, fulfilled and respectful citizens of Wylie, our great state and our amazing nation.
