TRAINING POLICIES

TRAINING POLICIES

The Department of Instructional Technology takes teacher input very seriously.  Many of the following policies are a direct result of teacher input.

  • At the completion of each training, attendees will be required to complete an on-line evaluation and have an opportunity to comment on the session they attended.  This on-line evaluation must be completed within 5 days of the session.  You will receive instructions on how to access and complete the survey at the end of each class.

  • No drop-ins.  You must register on-line prior to attending class.

  • NO CHILDREN will be allowed during training sessions.  Many have found this to be very distracting.

  • Duplicate certificates NOT will be issued.  Please keep up with your completion certificates.

  • A minimum of five (5) must register for any class.  Otherwise, the class will be cancelled and you will be notified via email at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Please be on time for class.   Classes are closed 15 minutes after the start time and no admittance will be allowed after that.

  • Please un-register for any class you find you will not be able to attend and have registered for.  We understand that situations arise and you may not be able to attend a class; however, a tremendous amount of preparation goes into each class and you may be keeping someone else from attending if you do not un-register yourself.  We do have a waiting list for many classes, so please be considerate of your fellow employees.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH REQUIREMENTS FOR 2003-04

Wylie ISD has retained the 190 day teacher contract for the 2003/2004 school year, which provides four days (24 hours) of paid, individual staff development to be completed by teachers.

Two parent conference extended days (6 hours) will fulfill one of the comp days.

Individual teachers, in collaboration with their principal, may determine the additional three comp days (18 hours).  There are many workshop opportunities available through the WISD , as well as Region 10 during the summer and throughout the school year.

To summarize, in addition to the parent conference hours (6 hours), a total of 18 hours of staff development credit (whether it is technology or other) is required by teachers to fulfill the 190-day contract.  Teachers will need to provide administrators with a copy of their certificates with the number of hours completed prior to May 1, 2004.
